About Marmion Marine Park

Located approximately 20 kilometers north of Perth, Western Australia, Marmion Marine Park covers an extensive stretch of ocean and coastline that protects important marine ecosystems including coral reefs, seagrass beds, and limestone reefs. Established in 1987, the park conserves one of the most diverse marine habitats in the region, supporting species such as the Western Rock Lobster, various fish species, sea lions, and abundant invertebrates. The park extends offshore from the coast and includes several islands and reef systems, forming a unique underwater environment highly valued by recreational divers and marine scientists. Visitors can enjoy snorkeling along shallow reefs, scuba diving to explore spectacular underwater rock formations and reefs, fishing in designated areas, coastal walking trails, and wildlife viewing from shore. The park also offers protection to rare and endangered marine species and serves as a natural laboratory for marine conservation research. Key attractions include the iconic Rottnest Island Lighthouse visible from the park, and the diversity of underwater habitats supporting colorful marine life. The clear waters and relatively accessible dive sites make Marmion Marine Park one of Western Australia’s prime marine recreation areas. The marine park is a significant destination for locals and tourists alike who seek marine adventure, ecological education, and conservation awareness.
